School starts on time

There is no teacher strike and classes have started thanks to a temporary deal between Detroit Federation of Teachers President Keith Johnson and Detroit Public Schools Emergency Financial Manager Robert Bobb, reports The Detroit News. Detroit Parent Network's Sharlonda Buckman commented:

"It's not an issue of who's right or who's wrong. What's most important is doing what's best for the children and that's starting school on time."

The temporary agreement will last until October 31 - Bobb and the Union will hopefully work something out before then.
