DPS student gets big time baseball scholarship
The Detroit Free Press reports that Mark Brown Jr. of Detroit King High School got a full scholarship to play baseball for the University of Kansas - he's the first DPS student to get a baseball scholarship to a Big 12 school. More important than his throwing and hitting skills are those that will help him succeed throughout his life:
“He possesses tremendous leadership qualities and is an outstanding young man,” King baseball coach Norm Taylor said of Brown.
Parents know that sports, music and other after school time activities help kids develop leadership and teamwork skills. That's why The Agenda for Detroit Kids calls on the Mayor to do everything he can to preserve these opportunities for our children. What do you think? How can we create opportunities for the next Mark Brown Jr.?
